MAC Blot Powder Review

Hey guys!

Although I do have dry skin, there are some days where my skin plays up and can become oily, so I needed to get something to sort it out. I also needed it for foundations which are too dewy for my liking. I was introduced to the MAC Blot Powder by my aunt, and I absolutely loved it!

This powder comes in five shades, and I purchased it in the shade "Dark" which turned out to be far too dark for my skin tone. I know that even those working at MAC say that this has little/no colour pay off, but when I use this colour on my NC42 skin tone, well lets just say I actually gasped when I looked at myself in the mirror! I was completely shocked at how much darker it made my makeup (and believe me, it was just a light dusting!), but this didn't deter me from the actual product. Nowadays, I just mix it in with a lighter powder and it still works fine!

MAC Blot Powder Review Dark

It is actually the best powder I've ever tried, which totally justifies the £20 spent on it. (Can MAC stop increasing their prices please?!) It is extremely natural looking, and never makes my makeup look cakey! I only need one swipe of this over my face and my face is left looking matte without looking fake! It absorbs every single bit of oil, reduces shine and sets my makeup perfectly! & the mirror in it is super helpful when on the go!

The effect of this powder is extremely long-lasting, and I find I don't usually need to use it again during the day, unless I'm using a foundation which isn't really the best. I used to use my aunt's one when I had oily skin, and it worked amazingly then too! It made sure my face was not a disco ball for at least 5ish hours before needing to re-apply!

I usually use either the ELF Powder Brush or the EcoTools Bamboo Powder Brush to apply a light dusting of this powder all over my face, to give a natural matte look, but I do find that using the puff that comes with it, can give a more polished and flawless look. Whichever way it is applied, it never feels too heavy.

I bought this one in March and as you can see, I'm no where near finishing it! I use it almost every single day and I can tell this product will last me a very long time. I'm extremely happy with this purchase and I can't wait to repurchase it in "Medium-Dark"!

Please remember experiences with beauty products differ, so what works for me may not necessarily work for you, and vice versa.

I've found an amazing drugstore loose powder for under £5! Let me know if you'd like a review.

Thanks for reading, Thahira x

  1. Great review, shame it was a little too dark for your skin though! Hope the lighter shade works out for you :)
